MINNEAPOLIS - Montevideo Thunder Hawks junior Jack Spaeth took third-place in the 100 backstroke on Saturday during the Class A championships at the U of M Aquatics Center.

Spaeth, who was seeded third after the prelims, lowered his own school record to 52.71. He’d broken the Montevideo school record at sections held since 1995 by J.T. Moon. Spaeth also had a career-best in the individual medley earlier while winning the consolation heat.

Montevideo senior Tyler Gort placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke.
