Clara City native new Wolves, Lynx PR chief
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx announced Thursday the hire of Brad Ruiter, a Clara City native, as its Vice President of Communications. In this new position Ruiter is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Wolves and Lynx public relations, broadcast and community relations departments.
Ruiter graduated from Midwest Minnesota High School in Clara City in 1986 and subsequently Northwestern College in Roseville.
He comes to the Wolves and Lynx with more than 20 years of experience in the public relations and sports industries. He began his career as the Associate Director of Media Relations for the University of Minnesota Athletics Department, a position he held for nearly eight years. Ruiter then went on to serve as the Director of Communications for the Minnesota Twins where he managed the team’s media relations efforts and communications strategies.
Ruiter’s previous roles also include serving as the Director of Communications and Marketing for the Minnesota Bankers Association and a Group Manager for Weber Shandwick.
Most recently, Ruiter worked as an independent media consultant, completing public relations and communications initiatives for a variety of local and regional companies.
He began his new duties Aug. 1.
Brad and his wife Sara live in Eagan with children Griffin, age 10, and Meredith, age 8.
