Report: Golden State offers Thompson for Kevin Love

One week before the 2014 NBA Draft, jockeying for position is becoming intense for teams trying to acquire veteran power forward Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Shooting guard Klay Thompson could be part of a bountiful offer from the Golden State Warriors, according to his father, Mychal Thompson, who told ESPN Radio that the deal was on the table.

Thompson said the Warriors could also receive shooting guard Kevin Martin, backup point guard J.J. Berea and Minnesota’s first-round pick (13th overall), for Klay Thompson and power forward David Lee.

The Denver Nuggets joined the fray with three veterans headlining their offer to Minnesota: guard Arron Afflalo, small forward Wilson Chandler and power forward Kenneth Faried.

Love is entering the final season of his contract. The All-Star forward wants to be traded to a contender.

The Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns — who have three first-round picks — are reportedly interested in Love. Chicago’s preference after making the playoffs is to sign a high-profile free agent, but the Bulls own two first-round picks in the top 20 and have moveable young players like Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler to dangle.

In rebuilding mode, it’s not known if Love would welcome a deal to the Celtics.
