Brodziak leads Wild past Oilers

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- Kyle Brodziak scores two goals in the first period and Guillaume Lattendresse had a goal and an assist as the Minnesota Wild skated past the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 on Thursday night.

Nicklas Backstrom stopped 34 of 36 shots on goal in the Minnesota net.

Brent Burns added an empty-net goal for the Wild.

Brodziak's goal were the first of the season. He scored at 2:49 with assists going to Brad Staubitz and Burns, then scored again at 5:34 with assits from Lattendresse and Cam Barker, giving the Wild a 2-0 lead.

After Edmonton cut the lead to 2-1 on a power-play goal by Des Hemsky, his third of the year,Lattendresse tallied a goal at 13:55 on assists going to Martin Havlat and Matt Cullen. It was the third goal of the season for Lattendresse.

There was no scoring in the second period.

Edmonton whittled the deficit to 3-2 on a power-play goal by Shawn Horcoff, his third of the season, at 8:09.
