Amateur Baseball: Kulset’s strong outing leads Twins to victory

LITCHFIELD — New London-Spicer’s pitching staff came through for a second straight game as Ben Kulset worked a complete game, striking out 11, in a 3-1 victory over Litchfield on Wednesday night at Optimist Field.

Like teammate Kevin Soine in a 6-3 win on Tuesday, Kulset had control from the start. He allowed seven hits and walked just one.

After Litchfield took a first-inning lead, NLS scored twice in the sixth to take the lead and gave Kulset some padding with another run in the seventh.

Litchfield’s Josh Johnson was the only Blue with Kulset’s number. He was 4-for-4 was stranded all four times. Lucas Johnson was 2-for-4

Kulset had two hits and scored a run for the Twins. Scott Rambow hit a solo home run and Tyler Horning and Jake Damhof also drove in NLS runs.

Josh Hadley struck out 13 pitching into the ninth inning before Austin Duetz came to the hill with the bases loaded to get the last out.

The Yankees scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh off Jeremy Hinderks to extend their lead to 5-0.
