College Baseball: Warriors sweep Minnesota West to cap regular season

WILLMAR — Complete-game victories from right-handers Austin Theis and Cal Swedzinski and two home runs from Wes Oswald propelled Ridgewater to a 10-0 and 12-1 MCAC South doubleheader sweep of Minnesota West Tuesday on Baker Field at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The wins cap the regular season and gives Ridgewater a 7-20 record heading into this weekend’s Region 13A best-of-three series against an opponent to be determined. The Warriors, who finished 7-7 in the conference, will likely be on the road for the series that features one game on Friday and a possible twin bill on Saturday.

Game One

Ridgewater 10, Minnesota West 0

Theis gave up just one hit and a walk while striking out five. At the plate, the sophomore singled, drew two walks and scored three times.

His teammates produced eight other hits, including a two-run homer in the third from Jake Comnick and a 10-run rule-invoking solo home run from Oswald in the fifth. Oswald was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and knocked in three runs.

Gideon Burnham added two hits and scored twice.
