Ridgewater sinks A-R; keeps pace in division

COON RAPIDS -- Getting into the final stretch of the MCAC regular season, the Ridgewater volleyball team picked up an important road win over Anoka-Ramsey 25-20, 27-25, 20-25, 25-17 Wednesday.

The Lady Warriors (8-1, 16-4) kept pace with Rochester, which also has one loss in the Southern Division. Ridgewater closes the MCAC season next Wednesday, hosting Minnesota West.

"Getting a road win, especially when we need to win out, was big for us," said Ridgewater coach Joe Sussenguth.

Stephanie Tillman led the attack with 13 kills, followed by Jordan Olerud with 12. Tillman also had three ace blocks. Leah Miller served four aces, Carina Fesenmaier had 39 assists and Darcie Listul added 13 digs.

But the Lady Warriors will still need to play better, Sussenguth said, if they want to succeed at the MCAC state tournament Oct. 25-26.

"With the energy and enthusiasm we had against Rochester (which the Lady Warriors beat last Wednesday), I expected a little bit more out of us tonight. Anoka isn't Rochester and we got too comfortable playing at a mediocre level," he said.
