Beyer to be inducted into Wrestling Hall of Fame
WILLMAR -- Tom Beyer, currently the Ridgewater College wrestling coach, will be inducted into the Dave Bartelma Wrestling Hall of Fame on April 24.
Beyer graduated from Morris in 1976 and placed fourth in the state his senior year. He was a Division III national champion in 1978 for the University of Minnesota-Morris, was also a national runner-up in 1981 and was fourth in 1980.
He coached at Willmar High School for 26 years, compiling a 248-201 record, before resigning in 2007. He coached six individual state champs.
He has been the coach at Ridgewater College the past three seasons and was twice named MCAC Coach of the Year. He has qualified 24 wrestlers to the nationals.
Beyer will be inducted April 24 at the Holiday Inn in Willmar, along with former Willmar Community College national champion Ken Vogt, the current Sauk Centre High School coach; former Benson and Stillwater coach Vik Wilson; three-time state champions Brandon Paulson of Anoka and Stan Christ of Mankato; former Fridley wrestler Jim Anderson; and contributor Dale Benjamin of Osbourne.
