College Softball: Ridgewater goes 1-2 indoors

ROSEMOUNT -- After having three weeks off, Ridgewater won one of three games at the Irish Dome Tournament Monday.

The Lady Warriors fell to 6-4 on the season after beating Fond du Lac 3-1 and losing 3-2 to Dakota College-Bottineau (N.D.) and 11-1 to the University of St. Thomas JV team. The Lady Warriors were 5-2 during their trip to Cocoa Beach, Fla., from March 5-8.

Ridgewater's home opener against St. Cloud Technical College that was scheduled for Friday has been postponed to a later date.

The Lady Warriors' next scheduled game is next Tuesday in Worthington against Minnesota West, but they could be playing Saturday at the Huskie Dome in St. Cloud.

Ridgewater 3, Fond du Lac 1

Andrea Krause struck out nine and surrendered just four hits to pick up the win for Ridgewater.

Bevin Williams and Samantha Cunningham both had an RBI single for the Lady Warriors while Krause drove in another run with a sacrifice fly. Brandi Bodin added a triple.

The international tiebreaker, which has the last batter from the previous inning at second base to start the eighth, was used and Dakota College didn't waste anytime scoring as Brittne Wersal doubled to lead off the inning to drive in the eventual winning run. The Lady Warriors hit into a double play and got another quick out in their half of the frame to end the game.

Ridgewater had a chance to end the game in the bottom half of the seventh, but the Lady Warriors couldn't capitalize after loading the bases.

Shannon Hietz struck out 15 and gave up four hits in eight innings in a losing effort for Ridgewater. Dakota College-Bottineau, which is 10 miles south from the Canada-United States border in north-central North Dakota, had Tawnya Tychynski shake off giving up two runs in the first three innings to strike out 13 and pick up the win in a complete-game performance.

Emily Roelike led off the third with a triple before scoring on Andrea Krause's single.

Emily Roelike led off the first for Ridgewater by reaching on a walk and stealing second and third before scoring on Brandi Bodin's sacrifice fly.
