A perfect weekend for Ridgewater baseball

ST. PAUL -- Ridgewater College capped a perfect baseball weekend, sweeping St. Thomas JV 7-4 and 6-3.

The Warriors swept Minnesota West on Saturday at Green Lake Diamond in Spicer, winning 2-1 and 11-1.

Jordon Prill hit two home runs and drove in six runs in the four games for the Warriors. Cameron Lehner also homered. In all, the Warriors collected 11 base hits, including three doubles and a triple by Austen Hadley.

Earning wins on the mound for Ridgewater this weekend was Jordan Ruter, Hadley, Mike Weber and Anthony Leaman. Nathan Nietfeld and Cody Johnson chalked up saves.

After playing eight games in the last four days, Ridgewater is off until hosting St. Cloud Technical College next Saturday.

Game One Sunday

Ridgewater 7, St. Thomas JV 4

Other than a four-run fifth inning, St. Thomas JV couldn't produce any offense against the Warriors. Mike Weber was responsible for the four runs, but the right-hander also struck out five and gave up only one walk in five innings of work to collect the win.

Nathan Nietfeld then threw two innings of scoreless relief to cap a perfect 4-0 weekend for the Warriors.

Jordon Prill and Cameron Lehner belted home runs and Austen Hadley went 3-for-4 with two doubles to ignite the Ridgewater offense. Shane Kampsen drove in two runs behind a single and triple.

Game Two Sunday

Ridgewater 6, St. Thomas JV 3

The game was deadlocked at 0-0 until Ridgewater plated five runs in the fifth inning. The Warriors' lead would grow to 6-0 in the sixth before the Tommies scored in each of the last two innings.

The Warriors had five extra-base hits with Austen Hadley and Clint Aretz legging out triples while Shane Kampsen, Mike Weber and Taylor Gonyea doubled. Weber and Aretz also singled to help Ridgewater outhit the Tommies 9-6.

Anthony Leaman fanned eight and didn't give up an earned run in five-plus innings to get the win. Gavin Biegler got two outs in the sixth and Cody Johnson pitched the seventh to close out the game.

The Warriors manufactured just four hits, but it was enough as four Ridgewater pitchers combined to stymie Minnesota West. Jordan Ruter was credited with the win after getting two outs in the fifth inning and Cody Johnson struck out the side in the seventh to pick up a save.

Mike Weber had two of the four hits for Ridgewater.

Ridgewater 11, Minnesota West 1

The bats were a lot more active in the second game of the MCAC Southern Division twin bill for Ridgewater as the Warriors picked up 14 hits.

The Warriors scored in every inning, including four in the third and two in the fifth to invoke the 10-run rule.

Johnny Pistulka led the attack by going 3-for-3 and Austen Hadley, Shane Kampsen, Jordon Prill and Anthony Leaman all added two hits apiece. Prill launched a home run while Kampsen tripled and Hadley doubled.

Hadley also picked up the win on the mound after the right-hander limited Minnesota West to four hits while striking out five and issuing two walks.
