Prep Softball: NLS stays alive in 3AA playoffs

MARSHALL - New London-Spicer had to batter Windom pitching to stay alive in the Section 3AA playoffs, pounding out 17 base hits in a 17-13 win on Saturday.

NLS' Courtney Hanson was 5-for-5 with two doubles, four RBIs and she also scored four runs. Emma Hanson had two hits and drove in four runs.

Brianna Deming had three hits and drove in two runs and Sam Johnson had three hits, an RBI and she scored three times.

Katelyn Nordmeyer had two hits and two RBIs.

The Wildcats play St.James in an elimination game at 5 p.m. today in Marshall.

Section 3A

KMS 9, BOLD 8

Savanna Hagen saved KMS' season with a game-winning singled in the bottom of the seventh inning in a Section 3A playoff elimination game on Saturday.

KMS built a four-run lead but surrendered it when BOLD scored five runs in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the inning, KMS' Morgan Lesteberg singled and came around in Maret Gjerde's game-tying double. Hagen followed with a single to center to end the game.

The Saints' Katie Krieger got the win in relief, and she also became KMS' all-time single-season hits leader with 47, and she also surpassed 100 career hits.

KMS plays another elimination game against KMS at 4 p.m. today in Cottonwood.

Eight KMS errors led to six unearned Wabasso runs in a Section 3A game on Saturday.

KMS' Maret Gjerde tripled, doubled and drove in two runs, Savanna Hagen had a single and two RBIs and Mallory Rudningen and Annika Smith both had two hits and drove in runs.

Lac qui Parle Valley's Haley Wollschlager fired a two-hitter and struck out 12 to keep the Eagles alive in the Section 3A playoffs on Saturday.

Wollschlager also tripled and doubled and scored a run. Ashton Molden had two hits and an RBI.

The Eagles play an elimination game against KMS at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Cottonwood.
