Stingers beat up Rochester 18-2

WILLMAR — After being shutout for the first time this season on Saturday, the Willmar Stingers made up for it with an 18-2 shellacking of the Rochester Honkers on Sunday at Bill Taunton Stadium. 

Every Willmar starter had at least one hit and one run, and the team pounded out 20 hits in all.

Zack Tillery was 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs, and Marc Flores and Alec Sole each had 3 hits with Sole driving in 4 runs.

The Stingers lead the Northwoods League in runs scored with 196.

They improved to 20-11 in the NWL North Division and trail the first-place Waterloo Bucks by one game.

Willmar will face Rochester again 7:05 p.m. today at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Stingers’ starter Max Homick went 7 innings and held the Honkers to 4 hits while striking out 7.
