Stingers take out Huskies in 11-2 win

WILLMAR — The Willmar offense went off for 13 hits and 11 runs and Abe Bobb delivered another strong outing in the Stingers’ 11-2 victory over the Duluth Huskies on Tuesday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Bobb, in his last start as a Stinger, struck out two and didn’t allow an earned run over seven innings. He finished his season with a Northwoods League-leading 1.13 ERA over 40 innings.

The Stingers hit five home runs in support of Bobb, including two from Michael Suchy. Max Dutto, Zack Tillery and Marc Flores also connected, with Flores’ his team-leading eighth on the season.

Willmar took a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI singles from Max Kuhn and Nick Halamandaris. Flores made it 5-0 in the second with his homer, a three-run shot.

Five Stingers’ players had two hits, and Tillery and Suchy had two RBIs each.

Nick Bates pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

The Stingers improved to 3-2 and are in fifth place in the Northwoods League North Division. They play the first-place Waterloo Bucks 7:05 p.m. today at Bill Taunton Stadium.
