WILLMAR — The Willmar Stingers may have run out of games in the hunt for a postseason spot.

Behind a three-hit night from Marc Flores and a strong start from Nick Bates, the Willmar Stingers beat the Green Bay Bullfrogs 6-2 on Thursday at Bill Taunton Stadium, but stayed two games behind the Duluth Huskies in the race for a playoff berth in the Northwoods League North Division.

The Huskies, whose magic number now sits at two, need any combination of two Duluth wins and Willmar losses to eliminate the Stingers.

Willmar improved to 15-17 in the second half and 38-29 overall.

The Stingers scored three in the fourth when Marc Flores hit a leadoff double and Michael Suchy followed with his first triple of the season.

Green Bay retired the next two batters, but Ben Graff hit Jake Gronsky with a pitch, and with two outs Brian Olson reached on an error by the shortstop to score Suchy and Gronsky.

Bates completed five innings and scattered four hits to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Bret Dahlson pitched 1.2 innings for his 13th save.

Willmar also scored in the second on a groundout by Nick Halamandaris, and two in the eighth on a Max Dutto bases-loaded walk and an error.

Flores was 3-for-4 and scored three runs, and Suchy had two hits, accounting for five of the six Stinger hits.

Tyler Leffler also had a third-inning single.
