Cards open CLC campaign with win

WILLMAR—The Willmar Cardinals kicked off the Central Lakes Conference campaign with a resounding 7-0 victory against Sartell.

The Cardinals won all four singles matches in straight sets and that proved to be enough for the victory but that didn't stop the Sabres from fighting in the doubles courts. Willmar won all three matches by narrow margins, including a pair of come-from-behind victories in Nos. 1 and 3 doubles. Paige Hanson and Abby Stauffenecker won their No. 2 doubles match 7-6, 7-6.
