Blackjacks rally for Camden win

RENVILLE—Dawson-Boyd stumbled out of the gate to start Thursday's Camden Conference match with Renville County West.

But the Blackjacks, got back up, got composed and rallied to win the next three in a four-set victory, 11-25, 25-22, 25-11, 25-14.

Karoline Dahl paced the Blackjacks' attack with 14 kills along with a pair of blocks and two ace serves. Lydia Aafedt facilitated the offense with 31 set assists and was the team leader in digs with 14.

Avery Elfering did a little bit of everything for the host Jaguars with 12 kills, 11 digs, two ace serves and three set assists. Lauren Wulf came up with 22 set assists, five kills, 11 digs and two blocks.

Willmar dropped the first set but stormed back to take a Central Lakes Conference win in four sets thanks to a strong defensive net presence on Thursday in St. Cloud.

The Cardinals improved to 3-0 in the CLC and 4-1 overall with a 21-25, 25-21, 25-10 and 25-12 victory.

Willmar's Carly Wedel, Sydney Olson and Grace Marti all had 10 kills, and the Cardinals combined for 28 solo blocks, led by Sydney Olson with seven and Abby Teisinger with six.

Abby Stark served five aces and had 18 digs, and Wedel also had 30 set assists and eight digs.

The Cardinals play at the Shakopee Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
