WILLMAR — It wouldn't be a Cardinal Classic without a bit of Willmar dominance, now, would it?

The Cardinals kept up the strong start to the season by winning their own Cardinal Classic with 272 points, easily distancing second-place St. Cloud Tech's 217 points. Six Willmar wrestlers made their mark on the mat with a championship and four finished in second place.

Cael Carlson continued to try and set a mat-speed record, winning both of his matches by fall in a total of 2:29. Fellow Carlsons Caden (106 pounds) and Clay (138 pounds) also took home championships.

Jack Roehl was dominant at 120 pounds, winning the semifinal by technical fall and the championship by fall in just 38 seconds.Teammates Lincoln Shinn and Charlie Farhat also kept things business-as-usual with three wins each and championships to boot.

While the Cardinals were busy taking all of the gold hardware for themselves, KMS made their way onto the podium repetitively. Will Magaard finished as the 113 pound champion and Ryan Torkelson took home the 195 pound title as two other Saints (Coy Gunderson and Jonathan Tostenson) each took second place.

Minnewaska's Jackson Stadsvold (120), Tyson Meyer (170) and Tyler VanLuik (195) also finished one win away from a title, as did Quad County's Bryce Schmidt (220).
