On a rare blue-sky day with the wind chill still well below zero on Friday afternoon, volunteer Debbie Dixon, a Ridgewater College freshman from Mahnomen, exercised Dublin, a three-year old pure bred Olde English Bulldogge, at the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter on the west side of Willmar. The shelter is open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. (TRIBUNE/Rand Middleton)

Jesse Albrecht of Grove City attaches an Eagle Scout project brass plate to the side of the new outdoor animal shelter Sunday at the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter in Willmar. Albrecht was recognized for his work constructing a roof over the shelter's outdoor kennel.
