A black bear was spotted high in a tree in downtown Duluth on Wednesday morning. The bear climbed up one of the large trees near the Duluth Courthouse at the corner of Fourth Avenue West and First Street. This black bear made a surprise visit to the area south of the Northern Lights Beach on the south shore of Big Kandiyohi Lake on Sunday evening. It was spotted in a farm field, a farm grove, and by one resident, in a tree in her yard where her dog was barking at it. Submitted photo

The black bear which took up residence in a tree on Morris' east side on Tuesday finally came down and headed out of town early Friday morning. Scott Kelly, who lives across the street from where the bear was hanging out, shot this photograph from his living room window on Thursday.
