Chris Schmitz of Redwood Falls plays Christmas tunes on bagpipes Friday afternoon outside J.C. Penney at the Kandi Mall in Willmar. A long-time musician, Schmitz picked up the bagpipes two years ago. With little snow remaining after morning rain showers, he left his sleigh at the North Pole and rode in a Ford van.
