Armando Loyal, of the Carson & Barnes Circus, rinses off the elephants Monday as part of the Pachyderms’ “Spa Treatment” on the grounds of the Willmar Civic Center, where the circus set up for a performance Monday. The elephants were lathered, scrubbed, exfoliated, moisturized and pedicured in preparation for their big top performance. The process takes gallons of specially formulated “beauty soap” and hundreds of gallons of fresh water, according to a news release from the circus. (GARY MILLER | TRIBUNE)
