The former Erickson Furniture building in the 300 block of Litchfield Avenue Southwest in downtown Willmar has new owners. New Minnesota Realty, owned by Sahra Gure and Abdirizak “Zack” Mahboub of Willmar, took possession this week. The couple, also owners of West Central Interpreting Services in Willmar, plan to develop a business center to serve the Somali community in Willmar.

Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota, headquartered in Willmar, has purchased the locally known “John M. Spicer House,’’ at 515 Seventh St. N.W. in Willmar. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, but lack of funding to restore the house and vandalism at the property have left the house in disrepair. Habitat will demolish the house and build a new home there for a family. (Tribune photo by David Little)
