Globally, about one in nine adults have diabetes, and the disease will be the seventh leading cause of death by 2030, according to the World Health Organization. A study that examined the effect of giving people detailed information about their personal genetic risk of developing diabetes found no greater change in behavior than among people given basic facts about the disease.
