The 2017 bonding bill provides $2.6 million to extend the Glacial Lakes State Trail from New London to Sibley State Park, including the purchase of a 155-acre tract of land along U.S. Highway 71 that will extend the park's boundary and provide a crucial link to the trail. In 2015, the DeLong family sold the land to the Minnesota Parks and Trails Council, which has been holding the property until state money was available.
