Ted Thull started building his dream home in 2000 but found himself over his head and in financial difficulties before he could complete it. A district judge has ruled in favor of the city of Granite Falls by finding that the house violates the city’s nuisance ordinance. Thull plans to appeal.

The ACMC Clinic in Granite Falls is part of the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital building as part of a long-term lease. Affiliated Community Medical Centers and Granite Falls Municipal Hospital had been discussing collaboration. The hospital now has announced it is establishing its own clinic next year.

Board members for the Bluenose Gopher Brewery launched a capital campaign to make it the region's first craft brewery based on the cooperative model. The brewery will be located along the Minnesota River in Granite Falls, hometown of the late Andrew Volstead, remembered for his legislation making farmer cooperatives possible and prohibition. Crews from Minnesota Valley Tree Service worked Monday in Granite Falls to remove broken trees from power lines as utility crews followed behind to replace broken poles and restring wires. The enitre town was without power after a storm ripped through Saturday night. It's hoped everyone will have electricity by Tuesday. Carolyn Lange | Tribune
