A crew from Wee Kut Ice Company harvests ice from Green Lake Saturday in Spicer where construction of a Winterfest Ice Castle began over the weekend.  Blocks of ice were cut from the lake and lifted out of the water using a conveyor made to lift the heavy blocks.play button

The former Minnesota Energy plant in Buffalo Lake began production in 1997 but was closed in early 2010 and remained idled until being acquired and re-permitted this year by Purified Renewable Energy LLC. Renville County is a national leader in the production of corn and once again is home to an operating ethanol plant with the reopening of the Buffalo Lake plant by Purified Renewable Energy LLC. Frank Lake Covenant Church is moved Tuesday from the country spot where it has been located for more than 100 years to a farm south of Benson where it will be used by Kathy Weckwerth and her Best Life Ministries. The move drew a British documentary film crew and multiple spectators.play button
