The Minnesota Sheriffs' Association recognized Renville County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Nelson as the state's Deputy Sheriff of the Year. He won recognition for his patrol work, building bonds between the department and the greater Renville County community, and his computer knowledge and determination to solve crimes. He is shown Dec. 20 in his squad vehicle in Olivia.
