Artist Lila Payne created this mural as part of the Montevideo Arts Project to promote public art. The public is invited to dedicate the work at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the historic Milwaukee Road Depot in downtown Montevideo.

The Chippewa River Project is aiming to increase the amount of perennial cover in the watershed to improve water quality. Part of that effort included last summer’s Simon Lake Bio-Blitz, shown here, where participants could view the benefits of perennial cover. Two reports on water quality in the watershed are  available for public comment until Sept. 7.
