The North Business 71 bike and pedestrian path this summer will have a new surface. An overlay on nearly 4,500 feet of the path -- from Robbins Island to the parking lot of the former Kandiyohi Power Cooperative lot -- is one of the annual improvements approved Monday by the Willmar City Council.

The improvements to County Road 5 will replace the old two-foot shoulders with new shoulders that are six feet wide and safer for foot and bike traffic. The road will become wider overall, with adjustments in a handful of areas to soften curves and improve geometrics for traffic safety. (Briana Sanchez | Tribune)
