The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has added Willmar Lake to its draft list of impaired water bodies in the state. The designation may aid efforts to improve water quality in the Willmar Chain of Lakes, shown above, including Foot, Willmar, Swan and Skataas.

Walkers of all ages cross the starting line of the Alzheimer's Walk Saturday morning at Robbins Island in Willmar. Many sported their purple colors in honor of a loved one lost to Alzheimer's or dementia. The seventh annual event reportedly drew a record number of walkers with well over 550 participants and 39 teams. The walk brought in $54,000 on a goal of $68,000, according to organizers. People can still make a donation at alz.org/walk and search Willmar, through December 31.

Two new patios, complete with picnic tables and additional seating, will be constructed at the Robbins Island playground in the next few weeks. One will be located in the green space just to the left of the playground entrance, while the second will be in the section of grass right across from the playground.

The city of Willmar, with help and funding from Willmar Rotary, are planning a facelift for entrance to the Robbins Island. Plans include a new sign, plantings and three flagpoles.

It was a big crowd Tuesday night at the Rockin' Robbins performance of The Fabulous Armadillos from St. Cloud. Rockin' Robbins drew strong crowds for all four summer concerts this summer in Willmar.
