'Tell my family I love them': Shocking video captures near-death shooting of S.C. officer

Two Willmar Police Department officers who fired their guns July 23 when responding to a report of a suicidal male holding a gun remain on leave while the investigation is underway. Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt said he expects Officer Marco Vazquez and Officer Anthony Haycraft to return to duty soon. Matthew David Smith, 46, of Willmar, remains hospitalized at St. Cloud Hospital, but he is no longer in the intensive care unit and is no longer intubated.

An image from video of the recently released dash cam footage of Glyndon Police Officer Brandon Boe. He was routinely citing a driver Monday, June 26, on Highway 10 and claimed he heard a bullet coming from behind his squad car, but responding officers found no evidence of gunfire.

Willmar Police Officer Marco Vazquez and Officer Anthony Haycraft have been identified as the officers who fired their guns Sunday on the 400 block of 11th Street Northwest of Willmar when responding to a report of a suicidal male. Matthew David Smith, 46, of Willmar, remains hospitalized at St. Cloud Hospital.
