Drivers along U.S. Highway 71 a few miles north of Olivia Tuesday morning were headed north. Most of vehicles were traveling below the speed limit due to visibility and icy road conditions. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is urging motorists to slow down and drive cautiously today.

Between 3½ to 6½ inches of new snow was reported in west central Minnesota as a slow-moving weather system moved into the area over the weekend. The National Weather Service is predicting that cold temperatures, including a wind chill of minus 25 degrees, will hit the area on Tuesday.
