Using ice blocks that weigh nearly 600 pounds, volunteers build the Spicer Ice Castle on Sunday morning at Saulsbury Beach on Green Lake. The 20-foot-tall structure will be the focal point of Spicer's Winterfest celebration, which kicks off Jan. 20 with fireworks and a lighting ceremony.

Sean, Brian and Carl Douglass own and operate Di Labs of Spicer, which is taking manufacturing to a new level with a new multi-jet fusion technology. The three brothers said their new 3-D printer is the first of its kind to be used in Minnesota and can turn an idea into a custom product in 24 hours.

Carolyn Lange / Tribune  Janette Plummer, owner of Shoppe 14 in New London, said there have been no problems since a one-half percent local option sales tax went into effect Oct. 1 on purchases made in the city limits. The city of Spicer also implemented the same additional sales tax this fall.
