Workers have been busy through the winter on a $10.4-million project to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant in Montevideo. Rice Lake Construction from Deerwood is the prime contractor on the project to upgrade the facility along the Chippewa River. Work continues Monday just south of Kandiyohi County Road 15 on the sewer line for Willmar's new wastewater treatment plant. The plant is being constructed at a site just west of Willmar. The new $80 million plant and conveyance system will replace the city's current plant, which is 70 years old and uses outdated equipment. The new plant is scheduled to be complete and operational sometime in 2011.
