The Willmar Charter Commission is hoping to amend the city charter to update the recall procedure. If amended, the city attorney would rule on the validity of the recall petition before any signatures are collected.

The Willmar City Council tabled a request Monday for a redevelopment tax increment finance district being considered for the 600 block of First Street South.  There is currently no plan for redevelopment on the east side of the district, but a retail/restaurant/office space is proposed for the west side, at far right.

Willmar Downtown Development will cease current operations this month. Delayed completion of the Historic 313 development project in downtown Willmar, shown here, and disagreements with its partner about managing the building project ultimately led the Willmar Downtown Development board to shift its focus solely to establishing a Food Hub and continuing the Becker Market.
