A watercraft inspector with Kandiyohi County recognized this mussel as a zebra mussel when she found it attached to a piece of Eurasian watermilfoil floating in Diamond Lake. She used a phone app to report the discovery. The state Department of Natural Resources has now confirmed the presence of zebra mussels in Diamond and Norway Lakes, and added Lake Andrew and Games Lake to the list of infested waters in Kandiyohi County since they are connected to Norway Lake.

The lights at Baker Field in Willmar are in need of replacement. Willmar Public Works is recommending the City Council approve the nearly $300,000 project for this fall even though the project is not currently in the 2018 capital improvement plan. A decision is expected Monday.
