Progress of Lake Country Wind projects to be discussed Monday

ATWATER -- The permitting process to install 20 wind turbines in Meeker and Kandiyohi counties is under way, with a community meeting set for 6:30 p.m.

Geronimo Wind is developing a wind farm that will include the Schefers farm. About 80 percent of the farmers in the target area have signed leases to have turbines located on their land. If the company is able to obtain the proper permits and market the power, installation of more than 40 turbines may take place next year.
