Bob Kill, executive director of Enterprise Minnesota, reports Tuesday that manufacturers across Minnesota expressed more optimism than ever in the 10 years they have been surveyed for the annual "state of manufacturing" report. For the first time as well, they cited a potential workforce shortage as their biggest challenge to limiting growth.

Geese take advantage of a temporary lake at Vos Park in Willmar on Thursday. Heavy rains fell in the region overnight, with 4.11 inches officially recorded in Willmar and 9.45 inches in Redwood Falls. The Granite Falls, Maynard and Clara City area and an area from Bird Island to Morton recorded amounts of 6 inches and more.
