Arms will be installed at the railroad crossing on County Road 1 near Highway 12 in Pennock. The crossing has been the site of numerous accidents over the past year and a half. The Granite Falls Historical Society has the city's approval to apply for funding to remodel and repair the Great Northern Railroad depot. The local historical group has an agreement with the owner of the depot, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. The railroad will transfer ownership of the depot to the Historical Society but will require that it be moved from this west side location near the rail line within six months. Ten cars of a BNSF train derailed in Moorhead about 4 p.m. Friday, but the crash posed no threat to public safety, according to Chad Stangeland, acting officer for the Moorhead Fire Department.
