Most of the the former Clarkfield school buildings are water-damaged and filled with mold and have crumbling ceilings and walls. Yellow Medicine County and the city of Clarkfield are considering a $1.4 million demolition project.

A second-floor turret was removed Monday from an historic house on Seventh Street in Willmar.  Known as the Gabbert house, the building was purchased recently by Project Turnabout and is expected to be demolished this week.

Dave Rettman with DRC of Litchfield is at the controls as the old Renville County Hospital and Clinic is razed Tuesday in Olivia. The 55,000-square-foot structure will be removed and the site made an open lot for development by summer's end. Virtually all of the materials from the old building are being recycled, Rettman said.

The 140-year-old Lebanon Church in New London will be demolished next month.  Members of Peace Lutheran Church, which owns the old church and property, delayed action for six months hoping that a buyer would step forward. This portion of the sprawling Tiger Marine building will be demolished with the rest of the building to create a new home for The Happy Sol, a popular clothing boutique in New London. Built about a century ago, the building was used to sell and service Model T and Model A automobiles. It has also played home to a pool hall and a boat retail and service business.
