HANLEY FALLS – Fire departments from 10 communities responded to a fire early Friday morning at the Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Hanley Falls. The fire was located at the coop’s northern location on the west edge of town. The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office received a fire call from a BNSF Railway crew at about 4:30 a.m. Friday.
WILLMAR – The West Central Tribune’s Thanksgiving holiday paper will be published Wednesday morning, ready for our readers’ Black Friday planning and Thanksgiving weekend shopping. The Tribune’s holiday edition provides a great opportunity for readers/consumers to find the deals they want and advertisers to reach their target markets.
The West Central Tribune will be discontinuing the USA Today news pages in its print edition effective Wednesday, Oct. 18. These USA Today news pages have been running in our print edition since early March. The reader response has not been strong enough to continue publishing these pages in print, said publisher Steve Ammermann. Many readers did not like the addition of USA Today pages to the West Central Tribune's print edition. Readers told us they preferred local content. We listened.

WILLMAR -- A strong storm thundered out of South Dakota early Sunday morning and raced across western Minnesota and rolled quickly eastward through the Twin Cities and into Wisconsin. The storm carried high winds, hard rain, significant hail and heavy lightning. The length of the storm ran from southern Minnesota far northward into the Arrowhead region of the state. The storms winds, hail and rain wreaked havoc across parts of western Minnesota.
Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce President Ken Warner suffered a heart event Sunday morning and is currently hospitalized at the St. Cloud Hospital. Warner, 60, was able to drive himself to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar and was later transferred to St. Cloud. Chamber board chair Pat Solheid has talked to Warner this morning.

The Highway 23 Coalition is participating today in the Minnesota Transportation Alliance Safety Awareness at the State Capital. The Transportation Alliance message is calling for a state investment in transportation infrastructure by Minnesota to improve safety across the state. April is Distracted Drivine Awareness Month and also features National Work Zone Awareness Week.
