SAVAR, Bangladesh (AP) -- More than two days after their factory collapsed on them, at least some garment workers were still alive in the corpse-littered debris Friday, pinned beneath tons of mangled metal and concrete. Rescue crews struggled to save them, knowing they probably had just a few hours left to live, as desperate relatives clashed with police in their anger and grief.
NEW YORK — Short on glam, slim on glitter and no sign of Manti Te’o, the NFL draft was still a solid B-plus. As in Big, as in Brawn, as in Bulk, as in Beefy. We’re talking a scale-busting 600 pounds at the outset Thursday night with offensive tackles Eric Fisher of Central Michigan and Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M. The first seven picks were all linemen: four on offense, three on defense. “That’s a lot of love for the big boys up front, which we usually don’t get,” Fisher said.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — It took awhile for the Minnesota Twins’ offense to get going on Thursday night. Once it did, it didn’t take long for it to sputter and stop again. Nick Tepesch pitched six strong innings for his second win, and Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz each drove in runs to lead the Texas Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Twins. It was the Twins’ first one-run loss of the season and their fourth straight loss to Texas at Target Field.
EDEN PRAIRIE — The Minnesota Vikings have taken Florida defensive tackle Shariff Floyd with the 23rd overall pick in the NFL draft. Floyd had 13 tackles for loss and 6½ sacks for the Gators as a junior last season. He was initially projected to go in the top 10 of Thursday night’s first round, but tumbled to No. 23. The Vikings have a history of taking Gators who tumbled after scoring big with receiver Percy Harvin in 2009.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Miami Heat’s latest spurt might have run the Milwaukee Bucks right out of the playoffs. LeBron James scored seven of his 22 points at the end of the third quarter as the Heat pulled away from the Bucks. Their 104-91 victory gave them a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, and the defending champs can close it out Sunday at the Bradley Center. No NBA team has overcome a 3-0 deficit to win a best-of-seven series.

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Firefighters on Thursday extinguished a huge blaze that erupted hours earlier when two fuel barges exploded in Mobile, Ala., leaving three people with critical burns and forcing the evacuation of crew from a nearby cruise ship. The cause of the fire, which started Wednesday night, remained under investigation, but it was believed to be accidental, Mobile Fire-Rescue spokesman Steve Huffman said in a statement. The blaze was extinguished early Thursday, U.S. Coast Guard spokesman Carlos Vega.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The number of Americans seeking unemployment aid fell last week to a seasonally adjusted 339,000, the second-lowest level in more than five years. The decline suggests hiring is improving from last month's sluggish pace. By CHRISTOPHER S. RUGABER AP Economics Writer
