PENNOCK — Like kids eager to get on a merry-go-round for a fun ride — and just as eager to get off with the promise of a treat when they get back home — one by one 7,500 dairy cows quickly step onto the milking carousel at Meadow Star Dairy. A cow steps onto the carousel every 4.5 seconds as three workers quickly wash udders and attach automated milking machines.

Five people were taken to the hospital following a head-on crash Wednesday evening in Kandiyohi County. None experienced life-threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. east of Hawick on Minnesota Highway 23.

HANLEY FALLS — One man died in a vehicle crash that occurred Friday morning north of Hanley Falls. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Eduardo Ramos, Jr., 36, of Mason City, Iowa, died as a result of the crash. He was driving northbound on Minnesota Highway 23 in a 1998 Ford Focus, when it crossed the center line, hitting a 2000 International Tractor Truc head-on. The accident was reported at 10:39 a.m.
A tornado watch is in effect for much of Minnesota until 1 a.m., including Kandiyohi County. A tornado was spotted just after 6 p.m. about 32 miles east of Fergus Falls, according to the National Weather Service.
