ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon said her first parachute jump was peaceful. At least it was after the initial fear of jumping out of an airplane at 12,800 feet. The ruling grants a request filed by Simonson and the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party after Gauthier announced he would end his re-election campaign after a rest-stop sex encounter with a 17-year-old boy earlier this summer was revealed. House District 7B Democrats revoked their earlier endorsement of Gauthier, replacing it with a Simonson endorsement.

ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon is going above and beyond: above her Capitol office and beyond what others in her job have done. Prettner Solon announced today that she will skydive with the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team on Tuesday to show support for military personnel. "The men and women of our armed forces put their lives in danger every day in defense of our freedom and our way of life," Prettner Solon said. "As Minnesotans, we owe military service members and their families our sincere gratitude and constant support.
ST. PAUL -- Gov. Mark Dayton handed state construction dollars to a minor-league St. Paul ballpark and projects in Duluth and Wadena on Thursday, passing over civic centers in Rochester, Mankato and St. Cloud after the Republican-controlled Legislature punted on choosing among the regional projects. The $25 million for the St. Paul Saints ballpark makes it the second stadium the Democratic governor has launched in less than four months. Back in May, Dayton signed legislation to build a $975 million Vikings stadium in Minneapolis.
FALCON HEIGHTS -- Amy Klobuchar and Kurt Bills shared broad smiles and agreed it was hot. But then the two U.S. Senate candidates took to a Minnesota State Fair stage Thursday in what proved to be a feisty debate during which they agreed on little. Bills, a Republican state representative from Rosemount, said Klobuchar is a politician, but he is an average American. "This election is really not Republican vs. Democrat anymore, it is America vs.
FALCON HEIGHTS -- Rare is the Minnesotan who has not seen videos of fish leaping out of water and hitting boaters. Word has spread across the state in the last couple of years about the invading Asian carp seen in those videos and the damage they could cause native fish.
