THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. -- A Marshall County woman died after a truck hit a deer, crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with her vehicle Monday night near Thief River Falls.

VIRGINIA, Minn. — An Aurora, Minn., man admitted Tuesday to gunning down his former girlfriend outside a bar last fall. John Joseph Plevell, 52, pleaded guilty to a charge of intentional second-degree murder in the shooting death of 49-year-old Julie Ann Hildreth of Babbitt. At a hearing in State District Court in Virginia, Plevell admitted that he fired a single shot at Hildreth, who had an order for protection against him, outside the Aurora American Legion Club on Nov. 8, 2015.
PERHAM, Minn. -- A rural Vergas man is confirmed dead and several others, including emergency response personnel, were hospitalized as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning at a home early Monday night, Dec. 19, according to Lt. Keith Van Dyke of the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. According to Van Dyke, the man was overcome by the poisonous gas and was found by his wife, who called 911.
PERHAM, Minn.—Eight people, including three Perham Area EMS employees, were taken to Perham Health at about 7 p.m. Monday night with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. The EMS workers and one other person were airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center. The other four were kept at Perham Health for observation.

MOTLEY—A snowplow was involved in a two-vehicle crash shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday morning. Officials say the crash happened near Highway 210 east of Motley, where 57-year-old Jeffrey Krall of Pilager was driving a 2013 International Snowplow. Krall was making a left turn into a driveway when his vehicle was truck by a Chrysler T & C van. Daryl Wellnitz, 42, of Staples was driving the van involved in the crash. Wellnitz suffered non-life threatening injuries, Krall was not injured in the crash.
MANKATO, Minn.—The first breeding bull has arrived at Minneopa State Park near Mankato, bringing to 15 the number of bison at the park, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The yearling bull comes from Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota and spent a month quarantined at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. Eleven bison were reintroduced to Minneopa in the fall of 2015. The herd expanded to 14 with the birth of three calves in 2016.
