Dayton spokesman Sam Fettig said the governor plans to meet Tuesday morning with House Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown. The governor's staff met with Senate Minority Leader David Hann, R-Eden Prairie, on Monday and he has spoken to Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, D-Cook, and House Minority leader Paul Thissen, D-Minneapolis.

MORRIS—Jay Johannes Holmgren, 37, of Evansville died of a gunshot wound in an officer-involved shooting Friday in Traverse County after a three-county chase, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said. Holmgren was identified Saturday by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, the BCA said in a news release. Stevens County Sheriff's Deputy Ron Hensinger fired his weapon after Holmgren had pointed his handgun at a group of law officers Friday along Minnesota Highway 27 in Traverse County, the BCA said.
WALKER, Minn. — A grand jury has indicted a Coon Rapids man for the murder of 5-year-old Alayna Jeanne Ertl this past August. ELY, Minn. – A 21-year-old Ely man was killed early Thursday after he left his vehicle following a crash and came into contact with a live electrical wire. Jacob Forsman had been driving on St. Louis County Highway 21 in Morse Township south of Ely when his vehicle left the road and overturned in the ditch, striking a power pole, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release. Forsman was pronounced dead at the scene.
