WILLMAR -- Nicholas Austin Sorenson, 21, of Willmar, made his first court appearance Tuesday on a felony second-degree assault charge for allegedly beating a man over the head with a gun stock early Sunday morning. Unconditional bail was set at $90,000 with conditional bail allowed for $1,000 cash only. Sorenson makes his next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court on Sept. 13. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree assault. According to the complaint, Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies were called around 6 a.m.
WILLMAR -- Emilio Florez, 35, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two felony drug and paraphernalia charges for possessing methamphetamine and cocaine and for storing drug paraphernalia in the presence of children. The items were found after CEE-VI Drug Task Force agents served a search warrant on Florez' home on July 7. As part of a plea agreement reached in Kandiyohi County District Court, another fifth-degree drug possession charge and three lesser charges of child endangerment, weapons and drug possession against Florez will be dismissed.
LITCHFIELD -- The Meeker County Sheriff is asking victims of thefts in Meeker, Renville, Kandiyohi and Stearns counties to contact his office to identify their property that was stolen. Sheriff Jeff Norlin says that more than $50,000 worth of property and 44 victims have been identified so far, but that there is still a lot of property yet to be identified that can claimed by the rightful owners. The property was recovered July 20 when law enforcement agents served a search warrant on the property of Gerald Leroy Fleshman, age 51, of Eden Valley, and on another location where he was storing
WILLMAR -- Three people made their first court appearances Monday for allegedly selling cocaine to a CEE-VI Drug Task Force informant, with the last purchase happening last week. Deedra Lyn Hargrave, 42, of Morris, and Ryan Scott Unke, 21, of Willmar, both face one first-degree drug sale charge and Aiesha Caldwell, 27, of Chicago, Ill., faces a second-degree drug sale charge. Unconditional bail was set at $200,000 for Hargrave, with conditional release allowed for $100,000. Unconditional bail was set at $150,000, with conditional bail at $90,000, for both Unke and Caldwell.
WILLMAR -- Carlota Elizabeth Gades, 26, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a gross misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process and a misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired. She will be sentenced Oct.
WILLMAR -- Jarrett Zachary Galvin, 20, of Owatonna, was sentenced Thursday to 45 days in jail, five years of probation and a $1,500 fine on two felony drug sale charges for his role in selling LSD-laced candy, narcotic pills and marijuana to a confidential informant and a CEE-VI Drug Task Force agent. Galvin was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, beginning Oct. 1. He was also ordered to serve 15 days in jail, beginning Oct. 1, 2011.
WILLMAR -- Just 10 days after he was sentenced for having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl in Willmar, a 23-year-old Sartell man faces another criminal sexual conduct charge for getting a different 14-year-old girl pregnant. Unconditional bail was set at $100,000 for Derrick Jose Arredondo, who faces a third-degree sex charge in Kandiyohi County District Court. Conditional bail was allowed for $50,000. He was ordered to have no contact with the girl or her family. His next appearance is Oct. 5. Arrendondo was sentenced Aug.
WILLMAR -- Daniel Loera, 26, of Willmar, made his first court appearance Friday on three felony assault charges for allegedly stabbing a woman Thursday during a domestic incident. Unconditional bail was set at $100,000. His next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court is Sept. 7. Loera faces two second-degree assault charges and one domestic assault charge. According to the complaint, Willmar police were called around 11:45 a.m. Thursday to the 400 block of 15th Street Southwest. Several witnesses reported seeing a man and a woman arguing there.
WILLMAR -- Raul Antonio Menendez Vega, 33, of Willmar, made his first appearance Thursday on felony arson charges for allegedly attempting to start his auto repair shop on fire. Unconditional bail was set at $25,000 with conditional release allowed on his personal recognizance. His next appearance is Sept. 7. Vega faces one first- and one second-degree arson charge in Kandiyohi County District Court. According to the complaint, a Willmar police officer was on routine patrol around 2:50 a.m. May 19 and observed a yellow SUV on fire next to Tony's Auto, 625 Litchfield Ave.
WILLMAR -- Two women face felony assault charges for allegedly ramming their vehicles into a third vehicle in an attempt to prevent another woman from getting away from them. The incident happened Wednesday evening near Lake Lillian. Sandra Kaye Block, 43, of Lake Lillian, faces a felony charge of second-degree assault and a misdemeanor domestic assault charge. Her unconditional bail was set at $100,000, with conditional bail set at $50,000. Rachel Anne Hartwig, 21, of Wheaton, is charged with three felonies, two for second-degree assault and one for child endangerment.
