WILLMAR -- The Minnesota Appeals Court has reversed a 2008 first-degree drug conviction for manufacturing methamphetamine against Darryl Alan Kise, 55, of Atwater. In an un-published op-inion issued Tuesday, the appeals court ruled that the district court erred in determining that Kise's father had the authority to allow law en-orcement officers to search his home, where a meth lab was located in his son's basement living quarters. Kise was sentenced in November 2008 to 74 months in prison and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine on the first-degree conviction.
WILLMAR -- Two men from the Twin Cities area are charged with theft in Kandiyohi County District Court for allegedly stealing more than $500 in baby formula from a Willmar grocer. Ismail Abokor Mohamud, 27, of Minneapolis, faces a felony theft charge, plus a fifth-degree controlled substance charge. Liban Hassan Osman, 28, of Blaine, faces the same drug charge, and a gross misdemeanor theft charge. Mohamud makes his next appearance Feb. 28. Osman will be in court Feb. 11. According to the complaint, Willmar Police were called around 6:45 p.m. Jan.
WILLMAR -- A 50-year-old Raymond man made his first appearance Thursday in Kandiyohi County Court on a felony harassment charge for allegedly leaving sexually explicit phone messages on a neighbor's answering machine. Craig David Waterman also faces a misdemeanor charge of making obscene or harassing phone calls. Unconditional bail was set at $20,000 with conditional release allowed on his personal recognizance. He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
WILLMAR -- A 21-year-old Willmar man made his first court appearance Monday on second- and third-degree assault charges for allegedly stabbing a juvenile male on Jan. 15. Unconditional bail was set at $75,000 for David Hernandez. Conditional bail was set at $15,000. Conditions include no contact with the alleged victim and others involved in the case and no possession of weapons, firearms or knives except for table knives. His next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court is Feb. 8. According to the complaint, Willmar police were called around 9:15 p.m. Jan.
WILLMAR -- A 29-year-old Willmar man pleaded guilty Friday to a second-degree assault charge for hitting another man in the head with a metal baseball bat Aug. 22 at Regency Estates West. Jaime Turrubiates will be sentenced March 2. As part of a plea agreement reached in Kandiyohi County District Court, he will receive a "bottom of the box" sentence, or on the lower end of the state sentencing guidelines. The charge was filed after Willmar police officers were called to the mobile home park around 1:50 a.m. Aug. 22 regarding a fight involving a group of men and women.
WILLMAR -- An 18-year-old Willmar man made his first court appearance Friday on a felony third-degree assault charge for allegedly beating up another student Thursday at Willmar Senior High School. David Gutierrez Jr. also faces a fifth-degree assault charge. Unconditional bail was set at $15,000. Conditional bail was allowed on his personal recognizance. Conditions include abiding by an order for protection and possessing now weapons. His next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court is Feb.
WILLMAR -- It is time for agricultural producers to not stay down on the farm, but rather to speak up about how food is produced. State Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson admonished producers gathered at the 2010 Strategic Animal Ag Conference recently in Willmar to engage in the discussion about food production, animal welfare and other key issues. "Every producer needs to talk to someone and is responsible for telling their story," Hugoson said.

Wagar was convicted by a jury in December of a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property, which was reduced from a felony level charge. The goggles were used by his father during a Sept.
