WILLMAR - A 79-year-old Willmar woman was found murdered Monday in her residence. According to Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog, deputies responding to a welfare check found the body of Lila Warwick a little after 5 p.m. Monday at her residence along the 3000 block of East Highway 12, just outside of the city limits of Willmar. The State Bureau of Criminal Apprehension's mobile crime lab was called to the scene, where officials determined that the death was a homicide.

WILLMAR - Joseph Clayton Schaeffer, 41, of New London, made his first court appearance Monday on a felony charge of criminal vehicular homicide or operation for allegedly causing a man to be seriously injured in a crash Saturday in New London. WILLMAR - A 47-year-old Sunburg man has been charged with felony theft related to gasoline purchases on his state-issued fleet card while working as a state conservation officer. James Clifford Steffen allegedly charged more gas on his fleet card than was used in the state-owned boat, all-terrain vehicle and snowmobile he used for his work as a Department of Natural Resources conservation officer. Steffen's first appearance on two felony charges for theft of public funds, plus a misdemeanor theft count, is Aug. 14 in Kandiyohi County District Court.
