WILLMAR — Two Willmar men made their first court appearances Thursday on felony charges of second-degree burglary, along with a gross misdemeanor count of theft and a misdemeanor count of property damage, for allegedly breaking into an apartment Tuesday afternoon on the southwest side of the city. According to the complaints against Farah Hirsi Awale, 19, and Mohamed Ahmed Omar, 27, a citizen who saw the burglary happen and then took photos of the men taking away the stolen items helped identify Awale and Omar as the perpetrators of the crime.
WILLMAR — Two people from Hutchinson made their first court appearances Thursday on first-degree drug possession charges for allegedly possessing 32.5 grams of methamphetamine found in their car during a traffic stop Tuesday along U.S. Highway 12. Unconditional bail was set at $150,000 for Jesse Lee Weseman, 29. His next appearance is Oct. 10. Unconditional bail was set at $50,000 for Sara Lynn Breitkreutz, 30. Her next appearance is Sept. 23 in Kandiyohi County District Court.
WILLMAR — Joshua Wayne Roschild, 22, of Willmar, made his first court appearance Wednesday on a felony charge of first-degree criminal damage to property and a gross misdemeanor count of theft for allegedly cutting a hole in a canvas door at the local Walmart Supercenter and then attempting to push merchandise through the hole to steal the items. Roschild's next appearance is Sept. 23 in Kandiyohi County District Court.
WILLMAR — Cody James Michael Hinman, 22, of Atwater, was sentenced Wednesday to seven years of probation, 73 days in jail, a $50 fine and 60 hours of community service on a felony charge of second-degree assault for pointing a shotgun at a woman in March.
WILLMAR — The 17-year-old Willmar boy charged in the July strangulation and stabbing murder of his grandmother, Lila Warwick, 79, of Willmar, has waived his probable cause hearing and will next appear on Sept. 23 in Kandiyohi County District Court. Robert Inocencio Warwick responded to questions from District Judge David L. Mennis with simple "yes" answers during the two-minute hearing Monday morning. Warwick answered that he had had enough time to talk with his attorney, public defender Ramona Lackore, and that he agreed to waive the hearing.
WILLMAR — The jury trial for Eugene Otto Zumhofe, 62, of Cyrus, has been rescheduled to Dec. 6 in Kandiyohi County District Court. The trial, on 12 felony counts of criminal sexual conduct for having sexual contact with a young woman approximately 1,800 times between 1999 and 2011, had been scheduled to begin Sept. 23 before District Judge David L. Mennis, but was delayed at the request of Zumhofe's attorney, Robert Schaps. A trial management conference was also set for Nov. 21 in the case.

GRANITE FALLS — The search for Andrew Joseph Dikken continued Friday as law enforcement officials follow leads on the man sought in a Granite Falls homicide and attempted homicide. The search for Dikken, 28, of Granite Falls, formerly of Renville, began Monday after the early morning shooting death of Kara Ann Monson, 26, in her Granite Falls home. Monson's friend, Christopher Panitzke, 28, of Redwood Falls, was shot multiple times and remains hospitalized. Authorities have warned the public not to approach Dikken as he may be armed and dangerous.
